What is Project 127?

Project 127 is a new ministry formed to

(1) provide an opportunity for those interested in adoption / foster care or currently in the process of adoption / foster care to connect with others in the church and community for support and guidance,

(2) provide awareness to the church and community about these endeavors in order to support them through prayer and other avenues,

(3) educate the church and community about the need for adoptive / foster care parents.

Our Mission

Project 127 is committed to building a solid foundation for those involved in the journey of adoption or foster care by means of assisting, connecting, guiding, and praying.

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.  James 1:27

November is National Adoption Month and although the focus is on adoption we want to be sure not to forget the thousands of children waiting for assistance in the foster care system.  As the body of Christ we are all called to care for God’s hurting children, but we may all serve in a different way.  Please consider one of the following areas of service to the children in foster care in our community and the surrounding areas.

·       Pray, Pray, Pray – Pray for the children’s physical, emotional and spiritual well being.  Also pray that God will open the hearts of more families to be involved as foster parents.  Continue to pray for these families as children come in and out of their homes and they deal with the emotional stress of caring for hurting children.

·       Give – As different children move in and out of their homes the needs of foster parents change.  Be willing to assist them in areas where they may need help by providing clothing, toys or maybe even your time.

·       Advocate – Become a court appointed special advocate (CASA) for a child in foster care.

·       Encourage – Consider becoming a mentor or tutor for a child in a foster group-home.

·       Open Your Home – Become licensed as a foster care worker whether short term or long.  There are 4 ways to be involved:

o      Traditional Foster Care – Providing care to children with mild to moderate behavioral/emotional needs.

o      Therapeutic Foster Care – Providing care to children with moderate to severe behavioral/emotional needs.

o      Emergency Foster Care – Providing care for a child for up to 30 days as long term arrangements are made for the child.

o      Respite Foster Care – Assisting foster parents by taking temporary short term care of the children in their care in order for them to have time away.

If you are interested in becoming involved in foster care or need more information on how you can be involved, please contact Cara Phelps at caraphelps@windstream.net.
