rEcess is a respite night for families of special-needs children. Our goal is to provide a fun evening for children with special needs and their siblings, while affording the parents a night out.
Our next rEcess will be March 10, from 5:00 - 8:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Bolivar recreation building.
- In order to participate, click here and fill out the “Child Profile Form”. (1 per special-needs child) Once completed, copy and paste it into the additional information box on the "Kids RSVP" page -or- print it out and return it to the person who directed you to this site.
- This form is your opportunity to tell us how to best take care of your child. It also allows us to assess if rEcess is a good fit for your family and if sufficient space and volunteers are available.
- Each special-needs child will be paired with a volunteer. Providing one-to-one attention for your child is at the heart of rEcess. At least one medical professional will be present.
- If you are interested or would like further information, please use the "kids RSVP" page to submit your questions.
These nights are provided by churches through incorporating the work of 99 Balloons. This organization began as an outgrowth of the life of Eliot* Mooney - the son of Matt & Ginny Mooney. Eliot was born with Trisomy 18 and lived 99 wonderful days. During his life, his parents were blessed to be surrounded by people whose acts of service allowed them to better care for Eliot.
And that is what this night is all about- acknowledging the honorable task you have undertaken as you care for you child, and longing to serve you in any way we can.
Space is limited, but we are always looking for additional families in our area in need of this service. If you know a family that might be interested, please direct them to fbcbolivar.org/recess/.
